From the catalogue of the 5th International Book and Paper Arts Triennial

In the little square catalogue of the past exhibition at the Chicago Center for Book and Paper I found some amazing artist books. Among many of them, I very much admired the work of Peggy Johnston, Carole Kunstadt, Sandi Rigby and Linney Wix, shown in the right side of the pictures below. More information on the exhibition on my previous post here. Our book can be found at page 26 of the catalogue.

Michelle Willey in South End, Boston

Just a little preview of the shop where I will do my last trunk show of the season, this year. It will in a home boutique in South End Boston, which is one of my favorite area of the city. In the same block also one of my favorite cafe` and now bistro`, South End Buttery.
Here is Michelle Willey in her own words:
Michelle Willey’s well-edited boutique sells classically styled, practical home accoutrements and furnishings that are contemporary and timeless — a reflection of Willey’s design sensibilities and aesthetics. True to her West coast roots, she embraces a pared down sophistication and when looking for home accessories, her model is simple, functional pieces of high quality: worthy of special occasions, but practical enough for everyday and built to last a lifetime.
The trunk show is scheduled for Saturday, December 14th, from 1:00 to 6:00 and Sunday the 15th from 1:00 to 4:00. Everybody is welcome!

Love the reflection of the church in the window. During the morning I took this picture, South End looked just perfect!

Bianco e Rosso twine

One of my favorite color combination is red and white. Not only for the holidays, but all year around. I happily used this thick, Bianco e Rosso twine on almost every product order was ready to be shipped. Many people asked if it was available for sale and now it is! Hand-wind spools of approximately 240 feet of Bianco e Rosso twine are available in my shop, as well as to my trunk shows during the holidays season!

Yesterday at Pod

The trunk show at Pod was intimate, in the new space, exciting and sophisticated. It was during a crisp, sunny afternoon of fall in New England and I had a beautiful light coming through the Asian lanterns to display my work. Pod has a distinctive selection of clothing and home accessories, with special attention to great packaging and natural fiber. Among a lot of other things, I loved the linen silkscreen tapes by Shinzi Katoh, just next to my table and the party favors she designed for the show! There were little soaps inside the cloth wrapped packages!
Beyond meeting a lot of new, great people, I mostly enjoyed the conversation about typography and book arts with the mind behind Katran Press. It actually took me all day, until I went back home, to realize that I knew already his book design from the website I visited long ago.
In display in the shop also illustrations by Lauren Denitzio and jewelry by Eva of Shakeh Designs. Details of the event here below and thank you everyone for coming!

For the love of Lotta

I just received this morning an announcement from Lotta Jansdotter about some of her new products. Because of working with her illustrations a few years ago on our calendarbook, I always enjoy seeing some of her new work, ideas and designs. It was a great way of starting my day!

Studio Violet

I'm sure Studio Violet will be seen a lot in the blog world, as I've just found they opened through Design Sponge, but their work is so beautiful and inspirational that I still would like to post it here. I love how white and spacious their studio is and their exceptional talent that brings such an amazing design. And photography!

Pane e Acqua

Somehow through Rose and Radish in San Francisco, I came across the beautiful interior designs of Rossana Orlandi in Milano. After being amazed of my discovery, I enjoyed finding some of her interiors in the restaurant called Pane e Acqua, built in an old tobacco shop. The restaurant designed by Paola Navone for Rossana Orlandi follow the spirits of the her next door gallery. The ever changing interior is a mix of contemporary and vintage design pieces and industrial lightings and tables, all available for purchase in her shop. I also found the menu particularly delicious!
