Best wishes for 2009

This is the last post for 2008! I will be away to Italy for a little while and I will hopefully return rested and ready for another winter on the east coast, in the end of January. I would like to thank everyone for their support during this great year, so much had happened and it has been wonderful.
With all the best wishes for the coming year, buon anno nuovo a tutti!

Holidays Trunk shows

After having a wonderful time at all three events of the past week, I would like to thank everybody for coming to visit and share the time with me during the shows! I have met so many brilliant people and artists, very interesting to talking to each of them. I wish I has some better pictures, with better light and no flash! The photos below just can give you an idea, but it was much more there than what it is visible in this tiny pictures!

Trunk show at Michelle Willey, in South End Boston. Beautiful, beautiful home boutique!

Studio Sale at Susy Pilgrim Waters, also there with us, Jill Bent, Gina Barrios, Joanne Rossman, Julie of Pod and jewelry by Sheila Corkery. Amazing few hours of festive party!

Paper and Chocolate at Albertine Press. Also there May Day Studio, Press Bound and prints by Rebecca. Eight hours straight of letterpress demonstrations done on the Vandercook by Shelley!

Cotton ribbons in sale!

I have some colors of large rolls and spools available in the Italian cotton ribbons at wholesale prices. Quantity are limited to one roll in each color. It is the Fettuccia ribbons in the tight weave. I just listed them in the shop for some last minute packaging ideas!

At Poppytalk Handmade

It has been a very busy week and it feels as one entire month has passed. I still have to post pictures and links of the last week of holidays shows, but as starting today, I'm happy to be at Poppytalk Handmade among other artists.
There is so much to see!
Also, it is maybe not too late to announce that Satsuma Press is having a holiday give away at her blog, until December 19th!

Debi Van Zyl

I have received today one of the wonderful creation by Debi Van Zyl, in the mail! The presentation in the box was a delight and complemented perfectly the knitted toy included in the package. So here is Benny, happily sitting now in my studio!

In the press - la Cucina Italiana

In a selection of a Minimal Chic in the culinary Italian magazine La Cucina Italiana, I have found our Vittoriani Invitation with the wine glass design in this photo composition. Follow the red dot. I also love the white caffettiera on the left!

Cotton ribbons applications

In the last few months I have seen the cotton ribbons used in different ways from designers, printers, bookbinders and artists in general. The main reason why I have started to import the ribbons from Italy, is because I wanted to provide a good quality materials to designers that have no access otherwise to this kind of supply. Years ago, I used to buy the cotton ribbons every time I was in Rome, in order to use them on my hand-bound books and clients were interested to buy them directly from my display, during trunk shows. It was really my friend Bari Zaki that first inspired me to import them in larger quantity and offer the ribbons for various applications. The real pleasure is coming now when I see how differently artists can work with it. In Italy, the cotton ribbons are sold exclusively for sewing and I was interested to reinvent this product with a wider and more creative prospective! I see the beauty in their texture and colors and the quality in such a versatile fiber.
Here below there are some of my favorite samples, but if any others would like to submit their own ideas, they are more than welcome! Please contact me directly, I would love to see them!

Starting from left to right:
Number 1 and 2 Black Pearl Press and Ink and Peat
Number 3 and 4 Jill Bent and Kiki and Polly
Number 5 and 6 Paloma Nest and Riffraffe
Number 7 and 8 Satsuma Press and Freshly Blended
Number 9 and 10 Variegated and Mcmaster and Storm

On Stiksel

Sometimes my products happen to appear on some blog. They are always a nice surprise and I loved to be included in this selection by Netherlands based Stiksel. What I liked the most was getting to know her work!
