Workshop at Albertine Press

As I have announced earlier, I had a join, two days workshop at Albertine Press
last weekend. All the students were very interested in learning letterpress printing and bookbinding by making their own bookplates and binding a book in sewing on tapes. Here below some pictures of Shelley's beautiful work in letterpress, her studio, the students work and a few shots taken during the workshop. I'm sure Shelley will have more and different photos to share on her blog.





Within the students, all very talented graphic designers and printmakers, we had the pleasure of having my friend Susy Pilgrim Waters, incredible artist and illustrator from England, living and working in the Boston Area. Images of her work here below with one photo taken from her sketch book. My young niece, visiting
from Rome, also attended the workshop!

Massachusetts Marketplace Festival

Last Saturday, August 18th, I have participated as a vendor, to the Massachusetts Marketplace Festival in Wellesley, organized by the Massachusetts Horticultural Society and sponsored by Whole Foods. I was surrounded by lavender smell, beautiful flowers and organic food. A great experience that I would like to repeat next year. Our accordion recipe books definately fit the event and they draw a lot of attention. Here below two pictures of the book with 12 Italian recipes, Victorian images and baker twine closure.

Letterpress and bookbinding workshop

In collaboration with Shelley of Albertine Press, I will have a two days workshop,
on Saturday and Sunday, August 25th and 26th, in her studio at Somerville, Massachusetts. On the first day, students will learn some basic skill of letterpress printing, by designing, type setting and hand-printing their own edition of bookplates. On the second day, the class will focus on learning the traditional binding method of sewing on tapes, with hand-made paper cover and eight signature text block. A unique feature of this structure is the decorative
attachment of tapes onto the covers, to secure the text pages.

Back from Rome

I have spent a few weeks in Rome and I'm just back to my studio and definally back to work. I will not try to attempt any coverage on my beautiful city, but I have a few pictures of interesting places to visit, if you are there.
