Fornasetti

I woke up after a dream, that reminded me of a trip to Milano from years ago. It was during that trip that I discovered the magical world of Piero Fornasetti, in a small shop in the historical center of the city. So here is that fascinating world to you, if you don't know it already!

White on White

It is so gray and rainy this morning, the day can feel lighter with these images from Irina Graewe. Love the White on White, the little white door and the smoke coming out of the tea pot!

Jessica Hische letterpress

We have seen these images from this letterpress print before. But how inspiring are they? I can't stop looking at the initials design by Jessica Hische and I found an interesting post about web design on her blog, I think it is worth reading. And, I guess, the combination of red, white and black is always my favorite!

My 6 x 10 Tabletop Press

It literally took me over a year to move my Kelsey Excelsior Press from under the desk and find a place on a wheel table in my already crowded, small space. But it feels as quite an accomplishment! The press looks so attractive. I'm maybe now ready to start printing small designs in my own studio and I hope it won't take me as long to move to the next step. Wish me luck!
I also look very forward to meeting new and old students at our upcoming class this weekend.

Un-Limited portfolio

I went to Julia Talcott'studio to pick up my copy of the Un-Limited Portfolio. I worked on the design and binding of the portfolio last fall, and I feel so fortunate to have now a collection of beautiful fifteen prints. Julia's studio was large and organized. Unfortunately I went there with Susy in the late afternoon and there were no natural light for pictures. There were prints and work in progress spread out everywhere in the studio and I love the inspiration walls!

Winter workshops

Only once a year, I offer the Sewing on Tapes Photo Album Workshop at the DeCordova Museum, in Lincoln, MA. The next coming is on Saturday, March 6th, from 10 to 4.
To register for the class contact the Museum School or call 781-2590505. Here is the description from the Museum's school catalogue:
Using traditional styles of sewing, create an elegant and contemporary photo album with an exposed spine. High quality paper will be used for the text block and fine Japanese paper and book cloth for the hard cover. To prevent the spine from swelling when photos are added to the pages, spacers will be sewn in between the sheets. A wide selection of book structure samples will be shown at the end of the class, for further discussion and inspiration. All precut materials and paper will be provided. See the picture below.
Also a few spots still available at our Letterpress and Bookbinding class, on the weekend of February 27th and 28th.
Any questions regarding the workshops are always welcome, contact me directly with any inquiry.

Neve a Roma

Today snowed in Rome and it is a big news! it snowed only once when I was little and I still remember it as such an event! the schools closed for one week, the city stopped and the historical fountains were frozen! It was beautiful. I guess I'm home sick today. Pictures taken from la repubblica.it.

A bit about wedding......

Still cold here and definally still winter, but these images help to think about warmer events. I was happily surprised when I saw the sage cotton ribbon used on some tea wedding favors, in a featured wedding on Style me Pretty and how charming are these couple made by Jill Bent?

Announcing the new online shop

After days of hard work, uploading the right pictures and the right size, editing text , pricing and inventory, I’m excited to announce a new and revised online shop. I had over two years with Etsy, where I have met most of my wonderful customers and I'm now ready for something different, cleaner and with a personalized design. I'm also grateful to Guido Scarabottolo to give me the permission to use some of his illustrations, extract from the 2010 Calendar Book and use them into the shop design. To celebrate the news, I’m offering 10% discount on the full line of Italian cotton ribbon, until February 14th! Please enter the code valentino during the checkout to receive the discount. You will also find hand-bound books, stationery, twine and limited edition books, updated with more and detailed informations on each product. Any suggestion and feedback on the shop are always appreciated and welcome to my new online adventure!

February first

As a new month starts, I have some news for the Calendar book giveaway. Yesterday, my daughter wrote on paper and cut all the names left from the comments, my son randomly picked one of the name from the muslin bag and my youngest son just watch that everything was ok. Yes, I have three small children that sometimes appear on the blog!
I choose a very low tech method that involved my children a bit in my world, as they are always wondering what I am doing in front the computer for such a long time. Thank you to everyone that participated in the giveaway and left many lovely comments about the calendar. I also loved to see it across the ocean in one of Camilla's photo. The winner is Snap and Tumble, who just had a great letterpress class recently. Our workshop was unfurtunally cancelled this weekend and we need to reschedule a better date in February. Soon to be announced. Thank you again everyone and have a great beginning of the week!
