Moving Sale!

Yesterday I pick up the keys for the new studio and August will be my moving month. Slowly I will set up the new space, while continuing to filling up orders and work with the same or almost the same, routine. I thought a moving sale is a good way to celebrate the new location for my shop inventory. Spool of 300 yards cotton twine are now available in the shop at 40% off my regular price. Offer valid until August 1st!

Susy at Crate and Barrell

Today is sunny, beautiful and it's my birthday! I'm going to see my friend Susy tonight and I'm admiring her illustrations for the Crate and Barrell kitchen line. So great!

Ikou Tchuss, Zurich

An order of several spools of cotton twine from Ikou Tschuss in Zurich will be used for the creations of colorful scarves and knitted dresses. I was amazed to read about the collaboration of the two second generation Italian friends and designers behind Ikou Tschuss and to imagine how they will incorporate the twine into something so unusual and fascinating. Quoting their own words: When Guya and Carmen begin knitting, they allow the piece to evolve, letting the design come together as they do the work. The aesthetic is and will always be focused on hand work. The designs are made by hand.... In many ways their collaboration is part of their inspiration. One partner will start a piece, and the other will step in to complete it. Opening in September 2010 is their new shop in New York at 8 Centre Market Place. The order will be soon on its way to Zurich, but next time I'm in NYC I will stop by to visit!

In the water

Cool pictures under water. Love summer!

Tensta, Sweden

It looks particularly gray today, after having sunny and hot days for a few weeks now. This image from Front and the team of designers behind it, make me start the day. Other great and inspiring projects on their site. Found via Black Eiffel.

Studio Space

It is official, I signed the lease last week for my new studio space! I will move in August and I will spend the next few weeks packing, working and planning for the new space. Very exciting, I can't wait to share more pictures of the work in progress and here below are the first, few details. It will be a studio, in Brookline, MA, open by appointment, but also exposed on the street. Something unexpected, that came along when I was looking for something more hidden than a store front, but the possibility came as a good surprise. It's a great news and a big change. Wish me luck!

Last shop update

Before the end of the week, I updated the shop with a few new items. The Francobolli Line greeting cards and 10 yards packages of Summer Colors Loose Weave cotton ribbons. After at least a few weeks of straight sunny, hot days, some rain is coming this way. Buon fine settimana a tutti!

Bird Dog Press

I think I mentioned already that one of my favorite encounter of this year Stationery Show was meeting the designer and printer behind Bird Dog Press. Today I received a link to her new press kit and the style of her pictures, her studio and the description of how the company started, just put me on a good mood to start the day. Off I go to mail my Bangkok order!

The weekend

The past, long weekend was definally restful and it is something I always need. I woke up this morning with a new order from a store in Bangkok that beside making me happy, also made me want to travel even more. But after many years in this country, I still feel there is so much I need to discovered and the land feels endless. We were invited to this amazing summer home over the weekend and it felt so wonderful. Peaceful, minimal, with great style and company. I'm ready for a super hot, productive week!

End of the week

Last order of the week, going to Purl, is out the door. I designed these new labels for the packages of five yards ribbons I sell to stores, trying to avoid the plastic sleeves. I believe is an improvement on the final product and a green choice. Long weekend vacation here I come, happy fourth of July everyone!

Reinventing Lettepress

I just ordered my copy from the UK Reinventing Letterpress by Charlotte Rivers. I'm honored to have some of my work included in the book and can't wait to receive my copy and see the rest of the contributors featured. A little preview is on the writer's new blog, along with some other interesting posts. The same book, under a different title, Little Book of Letter Press, will be published by Chronicle and available for purchase in August. I believe it will have great work and great photos, truly exciting!
