Last minute invitations

I designed the invitations with one week turnaround. Besides the pressure of completing and delivering the project, from start to finish, within 7 days, it was nice to see the letterpress printing on the 2-ply Lettra Paper. A beautiful thick paper I'm sure to use again in the future!

Lotus Invitations

Last week I was immersed working on a wedding invitations suite that involved different elements and was completely hand-made, using the lotus folding structure, letterpress and calligraphy. I assembled a few moments of the process in the pictures below, I hope it can give a little idea of the design. The client chose a metallic paper for the invitation and a floral decorative paper for the band closure. Printing was done on Stardream paper and envelopes. The Ebru calligraphy is by Micah Zimring and letterpress printing by Albertine Press. After designing, cutting, folding and gluing the different parts, I also calligraph and addressed all the envelopes. The design process started months ago, but what a pleasure when all the elements were ready and I had to work on the final pieces. This explain why I was away from blogging for the entire week!

Spring wedding invitation suite

The present for my oldest niece's wedding is the wedding invitations suite, today packed and ready for express mail to Rome. I had the pleasure to design it and also print it on my new press. Quite a challenge to start printing something so precious for the first time on the table top, but I thought it will make the present more special if it was made to start to finish in one studio. And so here it is....
150 wedding invitations, letterpress printed in two colors, some of which assembled with the reception card, with cotton embroidery DMC thread. Printed on beautiful 600 gr/m Hahnemuhle paper, with round corners. Essential in the process, the corner rounder I bought used, with my press, at the Printing Museum sale, last year. A tool I always wanted to have.
And more appealing than all of this, is the villa from XVIII century, in the countryside outside Ravenna, where the wedding will take place...

100% Italian invitations

Recently, I designed a set of wedding invitation for a couple that owns a winery here in the US and that is getting married in Firenze, Italy, this fall. The text of the invitation is all in Italian. We used Italian paper Medioevalis by Fabriano, Italian illustrator Rita Ravaioli for the image, extracted from one of the limited edition book, two colors printing - rich wine and dark grey and letterpress printing by Albertine Press.
I was not be able to take some good pictures of the invitations, but I find the illustration quite lovely and perfect for the event!
