Sample Sale March 7th

This winter, the studio makeover it has been what helped me the most to stay inspired, despite so many white skies and snowy days. I have never seen so much snow in my life! While we wait for spring to arrive in Boston, we rearranged the cotton ribbon spools by the color, designed new shelves  and a costom made ladder, painted the studio head to toe in white and two small black chalkboard walls, add some lettering by amazing studio assistant Rebecca Cahan and printed lots of adhesive labels to rebrand the cotton ribbon collection. We are ready for a new season! The Sample Sale is this Saturday, March 7th from 11 to 4, come and let us know what you think!

Dreaming of spring open studio

Can't believe is snowing again today! Dreaming of spring, it's time for an Open Studio and Sample Sale on Saturday, March 7th, from 11 to 4 pm. Come and see the studio renovation we worked on during these long, snowy days. We saved old samples, discontinued products and ribbon colors to share with you at sale price. Our signature espresso will be served, lots of reasons to stop by and say hello!

Let's start 2015!

We came refreshed and rested after a short break, traveling within the US and Canada for the holidays. Visiting old, dear friends and relatives is the best way to end the year. We are now working on new products design, possibly repainting the studio and rebranding our line of ribbons with new labels and packaging. I'm very excited about this! Annual holiday open studio

We are planning our Annual Open Studio on December 6th and I hope to see old and new friends to our event. We will have Susy Pilgrim Waters, Jill Rosenwald and Allore Candles as our special guests. Along with serving signature espresso duirng the day, we will offer a free studio gift to the first 20 people that will stop by to visit. The same day, December 6th, from 11 to 6, we will have a pop up shop in the South End Boston, the annual event Paper, Fabric and Stitch at the Michelle Willey on 8 Union Park Street. Along with Studio Carta products, will be featured work by Jill Bent and Stitch and Tickle Leather goods. I think they are all good reasons worth the visit. Metallic Loose weave ribbon

Today lots of studio news! The new line of Loose weave cotton ribbon woven with gold thread is ready and in stock on our shelfs. During last spring, we launched the natural cotton and metallic ribbon, but the result was so lovely that I was immediately inspired to add more. Possibilities now seems endless... For this fall I designed six new colors ribbon, as Red + Gold, Chartreuse + Gold, Fuchsia + Gold, Peacock + Gold, Sage + Gold and Gravel + Gold (my favorite). New also in the studio, tiny pairs of Crane Scissors, packaged by hand in our studio. As my other line of Ribbon Scissors, I found these embroidery scissors in a notions shop in Rome and loved them so much that I tracked down the manufacturer in Italy in order to bring them to you. They have a lovely shape, with golden handles and the sharp blades are the beak of the crane. Love to keep them on hand on my desk! For more wrapping, we added a Red and Gold line cotton ribbon in the 2/8" width. Imagine how cool it can be for styling an Indian wedding too! To celebrate, we are offering free shipping, wholesale, domestic orders, only, for orders placed between today October 8th through the end of the day Monday, October 13th. Calligraphy ribbon with Maybelle Imasa Stukuls

I'm very excited the collaboration with calligrapher Maybelle came to life! We were inspired to collaborate together, as soon as we organized the Calligrafia workshop at our studio last spring. Some first drafts of Maybelle alphabet were ready right after the first class, but it took us a few months to complete the project in details. The black ink alphabet, in upper and lower case, became white relief silkscreen printing, over black cotton ribbon. The long time and effort to have the best printing result, was all worth the wait. Now the Calligraphy ribbon arrived from Italy and it is packaged by hand in our studio on tea dye wood spools. They are so beautiful and I'm thankful to Maybelle for working with me on this idea. Now I started to think, what can come next?

Colors in progress

Our latest production: Custom made loose weave ribbon on wood spools featured at ABC Carpet and Home in NYC. And Loose Weave cotton ribbon in six colors, woven with gold thread, now in production in Italy and available soon in our shop. Stay tuned, we are getting ready for fall with new ideas. 

Summer 2014

Today is our last day at the studio, before closing for four weeks. We will be away from July 21st until August 18th, but we will leave you in good hands. Hillary Deane that has been assisting me in all aspects of the studio operation, will be able to process domestic orders and the online shop will remain open. Wholesale orders, expedited delivery and international will resume after August 18th. Rebecca Cahan, that has been working at the studio in the last two years, will continue production for our new holidays products launching at the NY NOW in August. Please review the latest Studio Carta Wholesale Catalogue and come to visit us at NY NOW, booth #7416. We had sparks of Gold and Silver ribbons on our desks this summer! As usual, we pair our display with Albertine Press letterpress stationery and I couldn't be any luckier to have such a great help for every show. Notable at Rifle Paper Co.

We are a big fan of Rifle Paper Co. and it is exciting to recognize bits of cotton ribbons or twine used in their packaging or simply as props in their products shooting. And we are honored to find some of our products in the Rifle Paper Co. Notable collection just launched for the holidays! In preparation of our Holidays Open Studio this Saturday, December 7th, we paired some of Rifle Paper Co. gift wrapping paper with a selection of our metallic ribbons, for a special price, now available for sale in our studio and in the shop. We are busy getting ready for the studio event and making space to feature work by Susy Pilgrim Waters, Jill Bent and a new guest Kirsty Allore with her hand-made candles. The weather should be cold and sunny, but no snow. Love this New England fall days. So stop by to say hello and have a cup of espresso and treats with us. Everybody is invited, bring a friend!

Wood Spools with cotton ribbon in colors

After many requests, we are excited to be able to offer the wood spools cotton ribbons at wholesale, as well as in the shop. They are available in twenty, assorted colors + Silver and Gold Metallic Line. The wood spools are made in USA and I dye them with black tea in my kitchen to have a warm, wood color. When completely dry, they are back to the studio, ready for assembling. They look great all together, they do brigth my studio with colors and they are fun to photograph! Thank you to continue to inspire us to create new products!  

Studio updates

While the giveaway is still on for a few days, we launched our fall Wholesale Catalogue with new products and colors ribbon as Jade green and Peacock blue. They look great when combined with Natural and Red! I had some help with the text catalogue by friend and blogger Justine Hand. I was lucky to get to know her during the Remodelista photo shooting last winter, and hopefully now every product is clearly described in the catalogue, without mistakes. Thank you for your patience with my English! I think Justine is a great writer and she is also working on the shop products description, soon to be updated. Free shipping is now available through November 15th for all wholesale, domestic orders. The studio is very busy assembling new products, shipping orders and almost every day there is a new box of materials arriving at our door. It is hard to keep up with inventory and it is my new challenge! We are honored to be part of the Martha Stewart American Made online shop, and a selection of our designs and products, rigorously made in our Brookline studio, are now available in the shop, along with other great sellers. The last news for today, we would like to announce our annual studio holidays sale, on Saturday, December 7th, featuring work by Jill Bent, Pikku Wares and Susy Pilgrim Waters. Rotolino greetings and giveaway

I'm excited to announce that our new product is ready in the shop and for wholesale orders. We decided on the Rotolino Greetings as a product name, and we have the letterpress spools available for the holidays and to celebrate love. It was a long process to have them designed, made and complete with their packaging, but I hope you will like the result.
